Review - Rock Redemption by Nalini Singh

Image
Let’s start with saying I’m always critical about the friends-to-lovers scheme, because I find it very easy to mess up or make it unrealistic. But in this case, it actually works, very much.   Part of that is that I don’t really think about Noah and Kit’s relationship this way, because even when they thought of themselves as friends, we knew that it is more, much more, and the heroine herself expressed how it can’t be like that for a long time: it is just too painful, too intense, and the craving never stops. The other part is, of course, the author. Nalini Singh’s writing style making this story unique, too. Having said that, I also have to say that I found the beginning a little bit slow. I get that there’s no fast way to this, I even agree with it, but from the blurb, I just thought that the media mess would come sooner int he book. But, as I mentioned, it is very understandable – after such a brutal turn of events like what Noah did, there had to be a slow building of

Archangel's Enigma by Nalini Singh

It is hard for me to write about a Nalini book without being unbiased, but I can't help it. Whatever she writes, I annihilate on the spot. Whenever she has a new book coming out, I spend the weeks before the actual date super-excited. That was the case with this story as well. I found myself fangirling during the last year, because at the end of the previous book in the series, every Guild Hunter fan knew: Naasir is next. Not to mention after the cover was revealed... So, after so many 'WhatIsNaasir?' hashtags, we finally found out the answer. But in my opinion, we got a lot more than that in this story. As for the main couple and their romance, I can't really say a bad word. I love how they fit perfectly together, how their often sad and tragic pasts kind of made them the best mate for each other, and their charasteristics were similar.  " Wild and fearless and a little bad. Perfect. "  Andromeda's childhood explains why she could give the underst

Rock Hard by Nalini Singh

I really, really, really liked this book. As in, loved it. This is what romance  is called, with a capital R. I always loved Nalini's work, read all her books, and now she's one of my all-time favorite writers, if not THE favorite. And this story shows that it's not only paranormal that she can write magically, but contemporary as well. I just love her writing style, how she formulates the words, creates metaphors until her sentences become almost artistic. What I love even better in her work is the variety of multi-faceted, colorful and changeable characters. Their qualities and features are so well and specifically written that they practically leap off the page. There is something unique in all of them. So even if there are similarities between some of them, from the lot of characters that came to life by Singh, they are still distinct. Nobody is black or white, where there is bad, there is good. Where there is light, there IS darkness. The real fifty shades. That

The Master by Kresley Cole

Holy Goodness. It has been days since I finished the book, actually, but I think it is better this way. If I'd started writing the review right after.... well, it wouldn't be very meaningful. Maybe the bes is if I try to categorize my thoughts. The HERO: This sexy Russian politician slash mafia leader is a dominant, arrogant, scarred outside and inside, but the sex-on-legs type of a male. I just loved how his personality developed and opened to his Katya, and with her, to us. There were times when he seemed rude and even cruel toward the end, but it is understandable if we think about his POV. That is why it would have been interesting to see what did he think exactly. But in the end, he is a devoted alphamale with lots of sweet actions. The HEROINE: I have to say, Cat has become one of my favorite heroines of all time. I was curious about her since even Kresley Cole herself said that she is a favorite. I loved her. So young with a lot of problems and deep secret

Lion's Share by Rachel Vincent

First of all, I'd like to state out that I have been waiting for this book very much. This was becaose I liked the pairing from the minute I heard about it, but more importantly, because I wanted Jace to have a HEA. I was so sad for him at the end of the Shifters storyline. Though I have to admit I still think that Faythe chose well. And I still don't like love triangles, I just don't believe in them, so to say. But I wanted Jace to be happy. But let's get to the point without any spoilers. So I loved this story in general , the plot, the turnabouts and most of the characters. I loved how Abby's past trauma has been handled in it, how it showed that's not such a thing that gets forgotten easily - I have read stories like that - but that time actually went by and things changed. Without spoilering anyone, I really liked for example Abby and Jace's first real make-out session, the things Jace said and done. I also liked Abigail's shrewdness,

Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh

So firstly, I'd like to share with you my very first review. About one of my favorite books of all time from one of my favorite series from one of my favorite authors. For starters, THIS is the book.    The book we've all been waiting for for ages.    The book that showed us something we haven't even expected.    The book that changes not only the life in the series, but even ours, Nalini fans' as well.    The book that I can't describe with mere words. It was so fantastic. (Because I would never want to spoil anybody, not even by chance, I'd rather hide this from now on.) <spoiler>  So, about the story. I think it actually tells enough if I say that I've never written a review before, so this book was THAT good that I broke my Silence *cough cough NOT deliberately said that... cough*   I actually needed time before I  could write about it. When I started to read this, I had my doubts about it. I was really excited about the hero and won
