REVIEW

I was excited about this story, as I knew after reading The Darkest Captive that it will kind of lead up to The Darkest King, William's story. Gena didn't disappoint.
I have to say I not only love her full novels, but also her novellas, and this is not an exception. I like when the story is well-paced and not too complicated in a novella, beause I think there are some that try to contain too much for their shorter extension. But The Darkest Assassin is a good example for how it should be written for the story to not overdo itself, but also be exciting from the start to the end.
Although Fox, the heroine hasn't been my favorite so far, I really liked her in this novella, and that also indicates the author's talent for me. It is great when they can show a character's development and broaden our knowledge of them in such way that we can get to like them or even the reverse, unlike them. I wanted Bjorn to have his HEA since reading the other Angels of the Dark stories, but he was rather a dick sometimes here - for his own reasons, of course, and he kind of got it right in the end fortunately.
I would also like to mention that I have really missed the above mentioned angels, and was happy that we could meet them again, even if only for short scenes, like Zacharel. Let's root for the yet unpaired ones to also find their one true love(s)!
This novella was a great merging of the LotU and the Angels series, and I can't wait for what's next with all the others. For example with Axel and William. And I am also super curious about Sunny, I have a feeling that she will be a great addition to the ladies of the series and probably an even greater challenge for our Ever Randy.
